Welcome!

ACHSA is the national professional organization whose members—physicians, nurses, medical directors, and allied health professionals—share the unique vocation of providing care, treatment, and continuity of care/reentry programs in our nation’s jails, detention facilities, and prisons.
The mission of the American Correctional Health Services Association (ACHSA) is to serve as an effective forum for current issues and needs confronting correctional health care.

We provide education, skill development, and support for personnel, organizations, and decision-makers involved in correctional health services.

We strive to contribute to a sense of community among correctional health providers and to create positive changes in health for detained and incarcerated individuals.

We invite you to participate in a short, online survey about your experiences with exposure to blood and body fluids in corrections settings.

The results of this study will contribute to best practices and education in corrections settings and to the development of standards and guidelines to protect both staff and inmates.

We know that work in corrections settings carries a variety of risks and that work practices can promote safety. This project explores corrections specific risk factors related to exposure to blood and body fluids.
