CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR OUR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD!
Annually, ACHSA awards our Distinguished Service Award to an individual (or individuals) who has significantly influenced correctional health care. Please review our distinguished list of Past Awardees, and nominate someone who you feel exemplifies professionalism in correctional health. The Award will be presented during our Annual Multidisciplinary Educational Conference on April 20-22, 2012.
Nominations may be made until January 31, 2012 via email to DSA@ACHSA.org or HERE on our website. The nomination should include a summary of the person's accomplishments, a copy of their resume, a statement regarding their membership in ACHSA, and their continued contributions to the profession of Correctional Health.

The American Correctional Health Services Association's rich history began in December of 1976 when a group of dedicated healthcare providers decided to work together to better the environment in which healthcare was provided in the correctional environments in which they worked. Formed as a corporation, ACHSA's main goal was, and still is, education.
ACHSA boasts a roster of Past Presidents whose correctional experiences include Medical, Nursing, Dental, Administrative and Mental Health. Please take a moment and review the list of our influential Past Presidents.
Of course, an organization is only as good as the individuals who "step up" and volunteer to promote and promulgate the mission. ACHSA annually awards at least one Distinguished Service Award to an individual or individuals who significantly influences correctional health.
Please take a moment and read our list of Past Distinguished Service Awardees and think about who you would like to nominate for the 2012 Award. Nominations will be accepted until January 31, 2012.
The companies involved in correctional health care, either directly or indirectly, turn to ACHSA for referrals when they have a vacancy. They know that finding qualified, dedicated staff is difficult. Membership in ACHSA, THE membership organization for corrections health professionals, indicates support and interest in continuing education for correctional health professionals.
At the Career Center, you can look for a job, post your resume to advertise your areas of expertise, or just look at the positions available "just in case". Job searching is free to the potential employee. Posting your resume in the Career Center is also free, and the exposure is phenomenal!
So please, take a moment and review the positions posted at our Career Center.
ACHSA is successful because of the diversity of our members. Current Chapters include California/Nevada, Georgia, Ohio, Oregon, and Minnesota. Over 200 individuals from states that do not have Chapters are members of the national organization. In addition, we are pleased to have members from Canada and other areas outside of the US.

Both the Oregon ACHSA Chapter and the Georgia ACHSA Chapter held Multi-Disciplinary Educational Conferences in September of 2011.
Oregon's conference was held September 5-8. Georgia's conference was held September 23-25th.
The California/Nevada Chapter and the Minnesota Chapter held their Multidisciplinary Educational Conference in November. Both conferences were well attended!
